What is Aggressive Absorption in Crypto Futures and How to Identify It?

Aggressive Absorption is one of the most powerful and least understood signals in crypto futures markets. It is the moment when smart money stops waiting and starts buying — openly, aggressively, and with full force — even as price continues to fall.
Unlike Passive Absorption, where whales buy quietly through hidden limit orders, Aggressive Absorption is visible in the data. Whales are using market orders to buy everything being sold, regardless of price. They are not trying to hide. They are in a hurry.

How to identify it:
Price continues falling — on the surface, nothing looks unusual. Red candles are printing and retail sellers feel confirmed in their bearish view.

CVD explodes upward while price drops. This is the defining signal — and one of the most powerful divergences in all of technical analysis. Cumulative Volume Delta rises sharply because buy-side market orders are overwhelming sell-side pressure, even though price has not yet reacted.

Whale Delta spikes strongly positive. Large players are executing aggressive market buys. The spike is visible, sudden, and sustained across multiple candles.

Volume rises on the red candles. Counter-intuitively, high volume during a price decline during absorption is bullish — it means supply is being consumed at an accelerating rate.

Why this matters:
Aggressive Absorption tells you something that price alone cannot — that the selling is being met by a buyer with deep pockets and high conviction. When supply runs out, there is nothing left to push price lower. The reversal that follows is typically fast and sharp.

The entry rule:
Enter long when CVD divergence is confirmed across at least three consecutive candles and whale delta remains positive. Do not wait for price to reverse first — by then, the best entry is already gone.
