What is a Trend Continuation Pullback in Crypto and How to Trade It?
The Trend Continuation Pullback is the most reliable and most repeatable entry pattern in crypto trading. It does not require predicting a reversal. It does not require catching a bottom. It simply requires identifying a healthy uptrend and waiting for price to come back to you at a better price — before the next leg higher.
The core principle is straightforward: when price breaks above a resistance level, that level does not disappear. It flips. Old resistance becomes new support. Smart money uses the pullback to that level to add to positions at a discount before resuming the trend.
How to identify it:
The uptrend is confirmed — price is making consistent Higher Highs and Higher Lows, trading above the 20-day moving average. This is the context. Without a clear uptrend, there is no pullback trade.
Price breaks above a key resistance level with strong volume. This is the breakout that creates the new support level to watch.
The pullback is shallow and low-volume. Price drifts back toward the broken resistance on weak red candles with declining volume. This is healthy — weak hands are shaken out, not smart money exiting.
A hammer or pin bar forms at the support level. This single candle is the entry signal — it shows buyers stepped in precisely at the key level.
Whale Delta turns positive at the support test. Smart money is buying the dip, confirming the level holds.
The entry rule:
Enter long on the close of the hammer candle at the R→S level. Stop loss goes below the lowest wick of the test candle. Target is the previous Higher High — and beyond if momentum is strong.
This is the pattern that separates reactive traders from prepared traders.
